Hello, my name is Lesley Kernochan, and I am a Board-Certified Music Therapist.
I absolutely love this modality of therapy because music allows us to connect to aspects of being beyond the mind. Music attunes to our hearts, our bodies, and to the river of wisdom from life itself. Sound has been harnessed by every culture for thousands of years, and is a powerful yet gentle tool for wellness individually and collectively. In music therapy we combine therapeutic connection and music for deep transformative healing.
Personally, music has been my beloved, my best friend, my lifeline even, for as long as I can remember. I am so full of awe and gratitude for this companionship. Time and time again it is there for me ~ an alchemist for whatever the school of life is offering in the moment. Some of the more advanced courses I’ve taken in this school include chronic pain, chronic illness, depression, anxiety, addiction, and high sensitivity. Challenging as they are, I know them as Rumi does in his poem The Guest House ~ as wise visitors helping guide us home. And so, naturally, I am passionate about supporting others in their own creative empowerment and evolution.
I have worked with people at the beginning, middle, and end states of life, and enjoy it all tremendously. I blend the skills of being a lifelong musician (www.lesleykernochan.com) and a trained music therapist to the process, and tend to each session as a ceremony for your own unique and perfect path. Sessions may include meditation, somatics, parts work, humanistic theory, art therapy, and inquiry. Musically, activities such as singing, songwriting, drumming, and mantras are some of the many approaches we may dive into, guided by your own interests. No musical experience is necessary in this safe, nurturing space.
Please feel free to reach out for a free first session to explore if this is a good fit for you!
Blessings, Lesley
